My Story...
I worked as a professional cleaner for many years around my young and growing family. With a reputation for attention to detail, I began to get requests from family, then from friends for help to sort their overcrowded spaces, not just with cleaning but with clearing clutter too and Keeping What Matters... has grown from this humble beginning.

After helping both members of my family and some friends to declutter, organise and clear their belongings, I realised it was something I enjoyed doing and it gave great pleasure to see someone enjoying a space that they had previously been overwhelmed in.
I discovered I was able to be supportive and gently encouraging when the clearing of items was difficult, had great patience when needed and that it was work that gave me a great sense of accomplishment and allowed me to work around my own families needs.
In helping others to decide on keeping what matters most to them, and in encouraging them to allow items that no longer served a purpose to move along to new homes, my new business Keeping What Matters... was created.

I have gone on to complete hoarding training with Hoarding Disorders UK CIC as this is an area of particular interest and have also completed their Hoarding in Neurodiversity course, an area I have particular lived knowledge of.
I am striving to further my skills and knowledge all the time by investing time in talks, courses, seminars and private study around the topic. In 2023, I gained a Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills - talking things through can form a large part of the decluttering process and whilst I am not a counsellor, it does allow for a better understanding of my clients needs and allows me to support them as they work out why they have kept an item, can it be let go, how they feel about the process etc.
I am a member of the Association of Professional Declutters and Organisers, and hold relevant professional indemnity insurance.
